Dell Latitude E6400 XFR

I don't know if you managed to see the Jericho TV series, but if you missed it...that's no big loss, after all. Anyway, I am not going to tell you anything about what's happening there, because what made me think about it today is Dell's latest laptop ruggedized to meet military standards and even go a bit beyond, the Latitude E6400 XFR. Just as a side note, there were also some iMacs in Jericho, but let's push it aside now and move to the Latitude XFR, shall we?

Oh, yeah, one more thing - in Jericho, there was a guy having a laptop like this one(could have been a Dell too, I can't remember) that was able to withstand an EMP. Now, that you know what made me link Jericho to the Latitude E6400 XFR, let's see the technical specs of this beast:

- 14.1-inch display with Direct View technology, optimized to make the screen easily viewable in direct sunlight, by increasing the backlighting and reducing reflectivity, thanks to a special coating.

HP Pavilion dv3z 13.3″ Small Notebook Computer

The new HP Pavilion dv3z is a small notebook computer that's not only affordable, starting at a price of just $799.99, but also stylish and slim in design, measuring only 1.01 inches thickness at a weight of 4.35 lb.



From the specifications list we find out that it’s a complete mobile computing solution for everyday tasks, being equipped with Windows Vista, a 13.3-inch High Definition LED display, AMD processing technology, long battery life and wireless connectivity, in addition to the built-in optical drive for burning your DVDs and CDs, ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics with 64MB memory, HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection with automatic lock, HDMI out, keyboard backlight and password management.

HP Bluetooth Laser Mobile Mouse HDX Wireless Computer Mouse

In addition to the laptop models introduced lately, HP launched also a new wireless computer mouse with a stylish appearance, called the HP Bluetooth Laser Mobile Mouse – HDX Series.



Created probably to match the high-end portable entertainment model known as HP Pavilion HDX notebook, the new wireless computer mouse features wireless connectivity via Bluetooth technology, and uses the laser tracking technology, allowing you to use it on any surface, wherever you are.
With the adjustable DPI functionality you can switch between 800 and 1600 levels to reach your favorite performance matching the currently used applications.

More than these, the HP Bluetooth Laser Mobile Mouse – HDX Series features standby and sleep modes for saving energy, and powers from two AA batteries.
It comes with a travel pouch and is supported by Window XP and Windows Vista operating systems, but you’ll need to install the included software in order to make it work.

HP Urban Courier Bag Blue Laptop Bag

I personally like to see all those cool laptop bags available in different designs and styles, but there’s one thing I am not attracted of – the high price, even if when it’s not about genuine leather.



While some models go over $100, HP keeps it affordable, at $44.99 for a brand new HP Urban Courier Bag like the one in the picture.

The blue laptop bag is sleek, with an adjustable shoulder strap, and looks good enough for everyday use.
It has a quick-access pocket and can hold laptop computers measuring up to 16 inches in diagonal, which seems ok, taking into account the fact that most of use carry 15.4-inch models.

HP Pavilion dv4t, Updated

This world is spinning around to fast, that's a fact. No, this has nothing to do with the fact that our planet is actually spinning faster and faster(that has been proven already, but we won't be thrown into orbit too soon, don't worry), because what I care about here are laptops, and not world peace and prosperity. The laptop targeted now is HP's Pavilion dv4t, an older product that's getting better...the quiet way!

No less than three Pavilion laptops got various updates during the last few weeks, and the dv4t is one of them. Why the dv4t, and why now? As I said, the world is spinning around much too fast, and HP surely got that right.

Just as a side note, the Intel Atom CPU reached 2 GHz... so netbooks may soon catch up to some entry-level full fledged laptops, if the laptop producers are not taking care to keep their product lines updated! Anyway, for now, everything's safe, because the Z5xx processor series is mainly targeting the mobile market, and possibly the tiny Sony VAIO P...

...so let's get to the HP Pavilion dv4t update: LED-backlit display, Espresso Black and Moonlight White color options, integrated WWAN (Verizon or AT&T), a generous 500GB HDD, as well as optional NVIDIA GeForce G 105M graphics with 512MB of dedicated memory. At last, there are some high-end features available on request, like the Blu-ray drive, integrated HDTV tuner, and a 12-cell battery!

New Classmate PC

Intel introduced its new Classmate PC design featuring convertible a display system that allows the user to turn the mini notebook computer into a tablet PC.
The new convertible Classmate PC model running with the low-power consuming Intel Atom processing technology is destined to the learning sector, specifically to primary school students, and brings a touch-sensitive user interface, the 180-degree swivel display and a rotational camera, while included in the Intel Learning Series, a new initiative gathering hardware, software and different services meant to improve the education in the emerging markets.



The previous version of the Classmate PC with clamshell-style design is currently used in the Magellan Initiative in Portugal for elementary school children, but Intel arranged to bring out a new design of the Magellan PC with enhanced reading and writing capabilities, larger display, more system memory and powerful high-speed Internet connectivity technologies such as 3G and WiMAX.

Intel CULV Initiative

If you're not much into hardware, then let me tell you a very simple thing - as lower the voltage needed by a certain chip, the lower its temperature. When overclocking processors, increasing voltage is the last thing to do to ensure the system works properly, but considering the small chips used these days in notebooks, and the fact that most of us have more computing power than needed on the road, we need even lower voltage chips to get things right.

According to various sources, Intel's Consumer Ultra Low-Voltage (CULV) initiative will have as leaders two of the largest PC makers,probably Dell and HP, both expected to come up with tiny notebooks with screens between 11 and 13 inches, sometime during this summer.
